2021 Upper North Island Master Painters NZ Apprentice of the Year Winner!
We are proud to announce the exciting news that Bostyn Parker, one of the PaintCO team, has won the 2021 Upper North Island Master Painters NZ Apprentice of the Year Award.
This competition is highly contested and so it is a remarkable achievement and a credit to Bostyn’s hard work, great attitude and skill as a painter.
As part of the judging for the award, representatives from Master Painters NZ visited a number of PaintCO sites to assess Bostyn’s work. They then met with him to quiz him on his knowledge of the technical side of painting. Bostyn impressed the judges with his painting skill and knowledge and it was fitting that they announced him the award winner.
As a result of winning this award, Bostyn was invited to complete against the three other regional winners at the National Master Painters NZ Apprentice of the Year competition in Christchurch. Here, each finalist was given the task of assembling and preparing a large playhouse. They then had to complete the playhouses’ interior and exterior with a paint, wallpaper and special effects decor designed by Resene Paints. Competitors had two and a half days to complete the work and, on completion, the playhouses were donated to charity.
The National Apprentice of the Year announcement was made at an awards dinner at the Rydges Hotel in Christchurch on 18 February 2022 having twice been put off because of Covid. At this event, Tuaine Ruatita from Manawatu was presented with the supreme award. While Bostyn didn’t win the national event, he did exceptionally well with the judges commenting on how impressed they were with his work.
Staff and management at PaintCO are enormously proud of Bostyn and congratulate him on his well-deserved award. This is a wonderful achievement and are privileged to have Bostyn as part of the PaintCO team where his attitude, skills, technical knowledge, and focus on customer satisfaction reflect the values that are at the foundation of all PaintCO’s work.
